Count the Kicks Campaign

In 2005 Healthy Birth Day begin work on the “Count the Kicks” public awareness campaign with the goal of cutting stillbirth rates in half. While public awareness campaigns have provided parents with such life-saving information as the importance of taking folic acid and placing babies on their backs to sleep, very few expectant parents are aware of kick counting and the potential it has to save their baby’s life. Researchers and doctors agree that doing so could dramatically reduce the number of stillbirths, which currently occur in one out of every 150 pregnancies nationwide. The “Count the Kicks” campaign seeks to reduce this number by making expectant parents aware of the importance of counting their babies kicks daily during the third trimester of pregnancy. To learn more about the Count the Kicks campaign visit our website at www.countthekicks.org.
